MOTORISTS are in for yet more traffic woes as Liphook Road’s closure has been extended.
Wolverhampton firm Carillion is working on behalf of Hampshire County Council to construct the new relief road in Whitehill and Bordon. As part of this, certain routes have been closed to allow contractors to work.
In April the council wrote to residents advising them about the need to close Liphook Road to enable the construction of a new junction with the A325.
The closure had originally been planned to be removed by the end of July, but due to “unforeseen conditions and issues encountered while diverting the existing statutory apparatus”, the closure needs to be extended until the end of August.
A county council spokesman said: “The county council apologises for the inconvenience this will cause to local residents and road users but we assure them that we will endeavour to complete this work as promptly as possible.
“Diversion routes will remain as currently signed, with details available on the website whitehillandbordonreliefroad.co.uk/traffic-management.”
