Well-insulated A&F Ladies put in a team display

By Farnham Herald in Hockey

ALDERSHOT & Farnham Ladies, the Hampshire Division? One leaders, defied persistent snow to play some great hockey and put five goals past mid-table Romsey.

Wearing base-layers and gloves, A&F soon warmed to the action, starting strongly and building from there.

It was a composed and solid performance from the entire home team, notable for clever movement, neat passing and disciplined defending.

A&F’s goals came from Evie Kenna, Sara Nankivell, Katrina Hellier and Emma Porter, who scored twice. Most were rebound goals. The best came when the ball travelled around the back via Millie Wakefield to Louise Laws in the middle and straight to Nankivell in the corner and her superb cross was deflected into the top corner by the waiting Porter.

Three more points for Aldershot & Farnham who now lead the table by nine points, having played two more matches than nearest rivals Haslemere whose fixture was called off last weekend.

Player of the Match: Millie Wakefield.
